My house reeks of mothballs, my guess is that they are in the (now sealed) crawlspaces and possibly walls. I have three kids and two cats, how can I remove this odor quickly from my house? It goes away when all windows are open and all fans are on, but considering it is starting to get chilly outside I need a more permanent remedy. Any useful suggestions?

try using one of those air fresheners that release every 30 minutes to hour and a half it will be a great way to help with the smell .but if you think they are in sealed areas of the hours you are stuck with it... try look into the ducts and see if they are not hiding in there if not (who had the house before you moved in? how long have you been in that house?) do you rent or own if rent ask the landlord where they were put... look in the basement up in the rafters..

Move they don't dissolve at all you may want to even remodel or use the temporary stuff for the time being is this a house that you are renting or own if own sale and if rented ask for another apartment or even take it to court cause did you know that was there at the time you bought or did it take some time at any given time you may just want to move or maybe the Oder wont be so bad after years have passed but I doubt it look at the package of a month balls in the grocery store or where ever you buy them and look at the ingredients of the products and can they dissolve in time or is there something you maybe allergic to that might help some

Put an open box of baking soda in there, with the lid closed, for a couple weeks. That should absorb the mothball smell. Then fill the box with cedar chips to replace the old smell with a better one.

You can also light candles. They do not have to be scented to work. That is the fastest was to remove odors. Other than that, the duct work thing is a great idea.

Other than Fabreeze-- I use a spray citrus-- can get it in beauty supply-- I carry mine when I travel--spray it in the A/C return-- covers everything-- so I suggest Fabreeze first-- then if more is needed-- switch to the citrus....
good luck
