It depends on the person, especially your immune system. If you are one that always "catches" a cold easily, the symptoms will appear faster. It for instance it is Genital herpes, stress can bring it about faster and symptoms will appear more readily (since stress can lower your immune defense).
Gonorrhea and syphyllis -- can appear as vague symptoms.
And again, depends upon the person. A simple shot of penicillin can help some STDS.
Just bite the bullet and go to your local health dept and get tested. They also will give you free condoms, literature, and counseling.

Sometimes not at all. You won't show any symptoms! That's why if you want to know if you have an STD, then you have to go for a blood test! Be careful and stay safe!

Sometimes symptoms never show up, especially in men. That is why it's always best to get tested after having unprotected sex. Just to be safe. It's good to get tested yearly anyway, even if you're having protected sex. Your local health department can usually offer these services free or at minimal cost.

It can be a from one month to a year. You might not even feel or see the symptoms. Your best bet is too use a condom and get tested possibly every month if your really sexually active or sleep with more than one women per month.

I think most show up in a week or two, maybe a call to the local public health office is in order. Anonymous tests and treatment are sometimes available thru public health.

Cold sores are caused by the herpes virus. Many of us already have the cold sore virus dormant in our bodies, and never have a flare up of cold sores. We contracted it as children, as it is a very common virus, and children pick it up easily as they often share food and drinks, and may be less concerned about hand washing and hygiene. Cold sores can be transmitted even when the person does not have a cold sore, though it is less likely to happen then.
remember that you can remove genital warts by surgery, freezing, laser, acid or cream but genital warts can reappear again and again because genital warts appears when your immune system is weak!
I got diagnosed with herpes type 2 about seven years ago, when I was still in college and had a stupid one-night stand. However, Not only was I able to remove all traces of the herpes virus from my system in less than three weeks, but I was also able to start dating again!

A certain one (G) only takes a day or two......Others (S for instance) can take ages. Moral: If in doubt, visit the "clap clinic" (GUM/STD etc) at your nearest hospital.
