I am travelling with children from Newfoundland,Canada to Florida, the United States. Can you tell me the procedure for going through customs at Montreal airport?Do We have to change terminals or do we leave from the same terminal? After we go through customs ,do we have to take our luggage and recheck it in or is it done for us?When we get off the plane in Montreal,do we go to regular baggage pickup,or is there a different baggage pickup for customs?I need to know the answers to my questions because we only have an hour to change planes,so I don't have time to make mistakes. Thanks.

It depends. I flew from NS to California. When you get off the plane you have to go through almost the whole airport to get to your next flight. Follow the signs that say "Customs" (looks for the Canadian and US flags). Just follow the crowd. Make sure you have all your paperwork filled out. You WILL have to pick up your checked luggage before you go through customs. Then they get dropped off on a belt after customs (right on the other side of the counters). Then follow the crowd to the Pre-board screening and get to your gate! That's pretty much it. Don't take your time. If you have 1.5 hours between your arrival and your departure, don’t' think that's a long time. It's not, trust me (I ended up having to run to my flight). Hope this helps.

I will tell you what you do .
First question ? Are you travelling with the same airline from Newfoundland to Florida? That helps. However , this is what you have to do.
1. Collect your baggage at arrival in Montreal , there's only one terminal.
2. If it's a different airline , you go and re-check at their counter.
Fill out US customs forms, plus US Visa form. If it's the same airline, you do not need to re gister but you just fill out the above two forms. You need to carry your suitcases
Then you go throught US immigration , they will ask a few questions and stamp your customs form .Then you go through Customs , when that is done, you hand over your luggage to someone who will place it on a belt.
After that , you must go through security.(Please check latest information on what you are allowed on board.

Bon Voyage

When you first check in your luggage in Newfoundland, you should ask the check-in clerk what the proceedures are in Montreal. They should be able to answer all your questions.

There is only one terminal so I wouldn't stress too much about it.

Have fun in Florida :)

Ask your travel agent.Usually once you start your journey your luggage go to final destination.Make sure they know the destination at departure. The ticket should tell you from what airport you leave. If you have to change from Dorval to Mirabel or vice verse one hour is not enough mostly with kids.Ask the ticket person at airport in Newfoundland.
good luck.
