And please don't tell me a tongue piercing is a bad idea just because it's a tongue piercing. I just want to know whether or not it is a bad idea combined with playing the saxophone.

I don't know how dedicated you are to saxophone, but if you are serious about it and really enjoy it I would definitely advise you not to. I had mine done in my freshman year of high school and it made playing difficult. I ended up taking it out when I wanted to play because it got really annoying. I started serisouly studying saxophone in my junior year and I decided my college career was more important than a tongue piercing. It's completely up to you, but playing will be difficult until you get use to playing with it.

it sort of feels to me that any woodwind participant with even the slightest little bit of adventure could have the skill to respond to this on their very own. No, you will not have the skill to play saxophone with a tongue piercing.

I used to play the clarinet - same reed configuration. I would say that a tongue piercing would get in the way!

It'll be painful in the beginning. Additionally, there is so much bacteria in your mouth that you are setting yourself up for infection not to mention if you want to be taken seriously as a musician it may indeed cause interference. I wouldn't do it. My sister did and she ended up with a mouth sore that wouldn't heal for the longest time-she ended up losing weight and getting seriously ill!

It shouldn't, since you're blowing instead of using your tongue.

Why don't you just put an arrow through your head? It would be just as idiotic.
