How does the church affect the economy???

im writing an issues paper on the church. I need info on how you think the church affect the the economy??

Considering they operate tax-free, I would say they suck the economy in a negative way. They also con people into donations that could better be spent on clothing and food for their families.

The church in some countries affect government policy on certain issues, like say birth contol, which has an effect on the economy....Consider the Philippines and all the countries in South America and Mexico are predominantly Catholic...and they all have high polpuatlions and fairly low standard of living...yet the church plays as much smaller role in policy in Europe and North America...and even Japan...Church policy is not all bad, and they provide alot of people a sanctuary from the troubles of the day.

it depends . i mean most churches are helping the government by funding many social programs in developing countries and in developing areas of the city like Detroit . they provided foods and cloths to the homeless and education to their children and families. during natural disasters like the storm last year many churches opens shelters to families across the country and provided than with food , cloths and education than the government. but you get to be careful of those Conner churches that have few members those are fake churches.

well,take for instance,the whole gulf was destroyed in katrina,mississppi was hit the heardest.new orleans cried out the loudest.the churches helped in ms,and we tgot back to business,not waiting for the goverment!!the churches is what saved ms,not the goverment
