Presure applied with the thumb can be stronger than an index finger. The thumb will help the evelvator get there quicker too. Same as you trying to hitch a ride with your pinky, it just won't work.

If my memory serves me correct a thumb is a finger so people are always using a finger if they are going to use their thumb or their other four digits.
