I know what the letters stand for but what is the "24x combo". Thank you

24X is the speed at which you can write and read to and from CD's.

COMBO indicates that is a combination of a CD-RW and a DVD.

24x is usually the maximum read speed the write speeds are usually less than the read speeds.

e.g. 24x would read your disc (assuming your disc took 1 second to read) that would mean your disc would be read by your computer in1/24th of a second (I think my math is crap!)

You may have a different write speed a lot of DVD burners can only write up 8x. When you burn a disc check the maximum speed from the drop down list.

It's not that it makes a huge difference. Besides if you write audio discs at a higer speed that 8x they are more likely to skip.

When I used to work in post-production audio we would never burn a CD at more than 2x.

24 is the speed of the drive and Combo means you can read CD(Compact Disk) and DVD(Digital Video Disk). You can also write CD from it.
