E-mail is my preference for general correspondence. That way I can use any e-mail reader and still get the message, and I don't have to be at a computer when it comes. If I were to use IM, I would rather that it be scheduled in advance for a conversation so I don't have to keep an IM programme open.

Hey, my best friend's name is Erin. Ok um IM. It's a bit more personal. Although Email has its qualitys because you can send it to any other email (where as IM you both have to have the same one). And you can send longer messages. Either way, they will never be as good as communicating in person.

Email is better than IM. This is because in case of email once you send it, there is proof that you send it. You don't have to save it because it will remain in you sent Folder and also stay in the Inbox folder of the recipients. In case of IM once you send it unless and until the receiver saves all his / her received IM , there is no proof that you sent it.
