The best way to prevent bikini bumps is to wax the area. If you still get some bumps use Tend Skin to alleviate the redness and bumps.
When shaving your legs, make sure you've been in the shower for a while to soften the hair a bit. Then use a fresh razor. Don't keep using the same razor over and over again...maybe 3 or 4 times max. They dull with each use. Also use a good moisturing shaving cream. And last but not least, moisturize with lotion after you get out of the shower.

You are putting too much pressure on the razor. Let it glide over your leg. Although we shave our legs against the hair growth, try shaving the bikini area with the hair growth not against it. You should find that you will not get the bumps after shaving.
If this doesn't work for you, try either getting the area waxed or using a mild depilatory cream. I have found the Sally Hansen makes a cream with aloe & it is mild (For my skin) You can try other creams but please test them before you apply it to any area of your body you could burn your skin. Another though would be to have laser hair removal. I had it done on my bikini area & the hair has not grown back. It takes a few visits and it does cost in the hundreds but it is worth it I have not had to shave, cream or wax that area for 2 years now. Just if you choose this option you need to check the technicians history, does he/she has certification and proper training some people learn to use the machines and end up severely damaging your skin. So be careful. Good Luck.

You can try dry shaving....cover your 'area' in talcum powder and use a good razor...always shave in the downwards motion...with the hair...not against it... this irritates the hair folicle and causes the redness. If wet shaving always do it in the shower....not bath. When your in the bath your body bloates slightly and shaving then will not give you a clean shave...shower is always better. Dont over shave....it will irritate the skin...bikini area can be done every 3rd day....legs once or twice a week....underarms...heck everyday!! The more you shave the less irritation there will be in the long run..so if you've only been shaving for a little while....things will get easier over time..

There isnt much to do about the bumps. There are some different kind of shaving gels and creams. I use No more bumps bikini zone shaving gel. It works good for me. If you are trying to shave your bikini area too much, it can cause irritation. I do it about every 8 days or so. Your goosebumps on your legs are totally normal, and i just smooth on a mixture of lotion and aftershave gel, the skintimate kind, and it keeps my legs sooo smooth!

Actually I used to have the same exact problem and 2 girlfriends of mine from Europe gave me 2 secrets! I have sensitive skin so I cannot shave my bikini line but...my one girlfriend told me to check out veet and use it on my bikini line. She said the first few times I would have to do it more then once and it would get easier...she was right. You can use veet on your legs and underarms too if you want too but my other girlfriend uses this epilady type thing that pulls out the hairs Braun makes it and that works absolute wonders too. The thing that I have noticed that is great about both is that my hair is growing in thinner and lighter...and I am half greek so I am rather happy about this. I used to have a bump problem that even happened when I waxed (when it was growing back in that is) but maybe once every few months I get them. Hope this helps!

1. The trick to shaving is to wet your skin & let it soften from the heat & moisture. You don't want to shave dry skin. Shaving is a natural exfoliator & you'll clog up the razor with dead skin while putting yourself at risk for nicks.
2. There's no need to waste your money on shaving creams formulated especially for women. They are virtually the same as the creams sold for men. (Now if you can just find a scent you can live with).
3. You are going to have to experiment with razors until you find the perfect one for you. Ask your friends for recommendations & look for a razor with lubricated strips, pivoting heads & spring-mouonted multiple blades. I've sampled several types & varieties & was amazed at how different each feels. My favorite? The Gillette Venus razor. Another great & new bet: Schick Quattro for Women, which has 4 super-thin blades & a pivoting head.
4. Be sure to change razors or cartridges on a regular basis, a dull blade can lead to nicks. Also, it's best not to borrow your guy's razor. His hair is coarser & will dull a blade. (Plus, don't men typically hate it when women borrow razors?)
5. Be sure to exfoliate your skin before shaving. It gets rid of all the dead skin cells that could clog up your razor, preventing a close shave.
6. Since your leg hairs grow down, you'll want to start at your ankles & shave up. For your underarms, you'll need to shave in every direction since the hair there grows every which way.
7. When finished, apply oil or moisturizer. The skin on your legs has few oil glands & has a tendency for dryness.
8. Ingrown hairs are caused when the hairs curl back under the skin. Avoid ingrowns by exfoliating daily & using a glycolic acid body lotion.
9. If you have a chronic case of ingrown hairs, try Tend Skin, an over-the-counter lotion for ingrown hairs, applying it in the morning and at night. The bumps should disappear within a couple days.
10. Consider opting for waxing, at least on your legs. You'll find that if you have coarser hair, it won't grow back as fast.

I had an idea that maybe if you shaved when you have goosebumps maybe you would get a better shave because the hairs come up move and you shave more off.

I would suggest that you do not shave but wax all of the hair in your body. Or use a special machine that does not shve the hair but removes it. I use Brown. It really helps with the hair of my legs, arms, bikkini. Where I live, it is a custom for a woman to have no hair in her body exept for the hair in her head, eyebrows, eyelashes. So, if I shave that often, I would end up like a man's beard!

Shave at the end of your shower. Your hair is a lot softer from the hot water. This should eliminate the bumbs...or at least make them less noticeable, because when you shave right away, your hair is too hard and rough, so it is harder to shave, causing the bumps.

You out grow this as you get older. Your legs are just rebelling against shaving.
Use an oily moisturizer in the shower after shaving.
