hate to tell you this, it sounds like your dryer has a fetish and happens to be acting this out by stalking your right foot. i'd call and get help if you ever walk into your laundry room and find a shrine built to your foot...

The quantum leap of socks!
Look between the barrel and the body of your washing machine.
Sice the socks arent tied by a leash to the center of the barrel there is no centrepedal force keeping
them from being subject to the centrifugal force of the sides of the barrel.
And they leave their orbit...
1- your barrel shakes and some sock ends up on the other side.
2 - The water level causes the sock to float its way out of the event horizon of the barrell
3 -your dog ate them...
4- get Martha Stewart to reorganise your closet!

Either you put all of your right socks on your left foot, or all of your socks are stuck to the side of the washing machine near the top. Go look -- they are probably still there forming multiple layers that will be discovered by future archaeologists.

If you have pets, they may have hidden your socks somewhere in the house! If there are mice in your house, they might have eaten your socks or made them into their beds and bedding! Good luck! As you look for your socks!

They have tunneled out of our normal space time into an alternate reality. There is a small, but non-zero chance that they will appear again.
