"It is an outrage that we have 100,000 unexploded bombs" in southern Lebanon that will take a year or two to clear, said Jan Egeland, the U.N. Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs.

"Every day people are killed and maimed," he added. "Civilians will die disproportionately" and more children than Hezbollah fighters will be killed, he charged.

Responding to previous accusations, the Israel Defense Forces said "all the weapons and ammunitions used by the IDF are legal under international law and their use conforms with international standards."
Saying that 90 percent of the cluster bombs that the Israel Defense Forces dropped on southern Lebanon fell in the last three days of the war, Egeland said, "We have to find out why," when Israel knew the conflict was coming to an end.
Last week, the U.S. State Department announced it had begun an inquiry into the alleged Israeli use of American-made cluster bombs in southern Lebanon.

The inquiry will seek to determine whether Israel violated agreements with the United States that restrict when the weapons can be used.

The Reagan administration imposed a six-year ban on the sale of cluster ammunitions to Israel after a congressional investigation found Israel had misused such weapons during its 1982 invasion of Lebanon.

You're using the term "terrorist" too loosely, you don't know what the word means! Israel was not running around in civilian clothes while hiding behind women and children, and firing rockets indiscriminately for the purpose of killing only civilians. Are these "international standards"? Hezbollah is a known terrorist organization, they invaded Israel and sneaked back into Lebanon. Lebanon was where they were, so that's where you go after them, why did the Lebanese government or the U.N. let this "terrorist" organization even exist?

The U.S. announced last week that were going to look into whether Israel used the U.S. supplied cluster bombs. I can imagine the response will be include more rhetoric about how Hezbollah , unprovoked, attacked poor defenseless Israel and that if Israel did break the agreement the U.S. had when they sold the bombs to Israel, that it was an honest mistake. What rot...Bush won't do anything to offend the power brokers so I can guarantee nothing will be done. Israel can defy the UN at will. The U.S. does as well. But of course, Iran can't. Sorry all, but Bush is leading us all into another pre-election(mid-term) conflict that will only serve to silence the critics of a real democracy and cost many more American lives. The worst part is so many believe Bush is right although there is NO evidence that Iran is using their nuclear plants for anything more than power. Why not let Bush and Iran debate? Then allow a free vote in the UN to see who believes who before invading another country.

I don't think its questionable if Israel is a terrorist state anymore. If we look at what has happened since 1982 and the invasion of Lebanon it is obvious that Israel has practiced implicit terrorist against a proud Lebanese nation which values democracy and free thought. A lot of people when they judge about Lebanon have no clue of the way Lebanon is . Lebanon is the complete opposite of Israel and by that it is a threat to it. What is really meant is that Lebanon is the only country in the Middle East which is purely democratic, unlike Israel which by its authoritarian regime have started a process of ethnic cleansing quite similar to the Nazis. All in all, it is a mere disgrace that Israel which announces the right to defend itself against what it calls 'terrorism' with the same terroristic ideologies.

Unlike the liberals that believe terrorist have rights I believe Israel was justified in using cluster bombs because Hezbollah was conducting a guerrilla war against them. The reason to use that type of weapon is to neutralize an area of enemy forces and anyone with a brain knows Hezbollah was hiding in the areas attacked. What about the use of rockets against civilians. No one complained about that and the ignorance of the UN and others shows how biased they are.

Israel may end up using nuclear weapons against Iran and Syria if Hezbollah is allowed to restock and start another skirmish. It is a skirmish because Hezbollah does not have the balls to go head to head against Israel just as the terrorist do not have the guts to take on our military.
Wise up and put the blame on Hezbollah and their supporters not Israel.

Israel is the terrorist!! of the world! being supported by zionist controlled U.S. and U.K. governments and people that are force fed by the tv and zionist controlled news networks don't know any better because they believe what they see on tv.No more U.S. blood for Israel let them fight there own battles. The Hezbollah are freedom fighters not terrorists like the news networks like to label them as.Any country who questions Israels policy is labeled a terrorist unfairly. And Israel targets the future of Lebanon by killing woman and children in schools ,hospitals Lebanon has the right to fight back against high tech weapons made by and supplied by the U.S. taxpayer.Yeah lets go bomb a power plant and that house with 5 young children inside to test out our new U.S. made night vision googles that will be fun says the 18 year old hebrew zionist racist skinhead.

Cluster bomblets everywhere should strictly be banned. They are clearly a cruel and inhuman approach to harming people. It is enough that people lose their lives, but to let them die slowly from the injuries it can cause-indicates the cruel and abnormal mind of the one who invented it and indeed those that find its use satisfying.

Firstly, the use of them indicates an intention to prolong suffering and is a collective form of punishing.

Secondly, It doesn't distinguish who its target - It mains children who pick them up thinking they are toys, it maims innocent civilians and even politicians and rescuers who visit the areas to help people.

Hezbollah are the terrorists. if they and the PLO did not constantly attack Israel, none of this would even be happening. a terrorist hiding behind a civilian family is not a civilian. he is, however, responsible for their deaths when he is retaliated against.
