and if so, why? Is there any real evidence that they exist? Go on, scare me if you can! I used to get scared of ghosts but not any more.

I would suppose that it would depend on the religion you are faithful for. Some don't believe in ghosts at all. After deciding your faith, you must then define what a ghost is. Even the people who say no have the possibility of believing depending on which definition you use. As for me, I am pagan so yes I believe in ghosts. I believe that ghosts are ethereal energy beings that haven't gotten the chance or the thought to move on from a former life. These are not the same as other energy beings that are created such as poltergeists, and servitors. But then again if you look at a more scientific point of view or empirical view, then you have to wonder about any faith because ghosts would be considered part of the energy of the universe, and of the christian god, as are our thoughts and actions and feelings.

Yes, I do believe in ghosts, but my experiences are all subjective. I grew up in a haunted house where things like three knocks on an inside garage door (the outer door was locked), horrible smells, moans, and heavy footsteps on a carpeted hallway were common. Again, no "proof" except the fact that the entire family experienced these same things and didn't know until we compared notes later.

However, things like EVP (electronic voice phenomenon) and certain photographs are a little harder to refute. When even the scientific experts agree that the anomalies are genuine but inexplicable, that comes a lot closer to to proving ghosts exist than just subjective experiences.

I am not sure, but I have been told that they will not show themselves if they think they will frighten you, but there are MANY examples that something exists, for example Ouija board, but this can attract bad spirits or contact un-wanted spirits, if it is used in the wrong way.

The office where I am currently working is haunted, the person got murdered here a few years back so we have company, if we stay after hours!

There was a story a few years back, about placing a video camera in an empty church, it got checked over, and there was noone there, the camera crew went back the next morning, and you would be amazed at the sounds and bangs the camera had picked up! really now. Doors opening and closing, etc

Yes I have experienced unexplainable events in different homes I had lived in. Such as a window and bed shaking in my bedroom when there was nothing else in the room moving. A large pool of water appearing on the floor when the house was built on a slab and no broken pipes underneath. A section of fence shaking for all it's worth, and nothing else moving. Walls appear to be breathing in and out. A nun appearing and disappearing. A small child riding a bike and disappearing. Drawers pulled out and water in them. A civil war solider asking for coffee and disappearing. Several people in robes with hoods standing around my bed chanting in another language holding candles (that one was really creepy). And in the home I own now the sound of doors slamming shut, but yet not a door had been closed. So I just figured my ghost is back. Also on the mentioned events someone else was with me and had seen these things happen too.

Yes I believe in ghosts, I believe in a lot of things, but have actually experienced the weird ghost stuff, The unexplainable happening ie. tv. switching on etc.

My best friend died 12 yrs ago, and we were inseparable, went out 5 nights a week, and loved to dance, we used to love the track " I wanna sex you up". I had a clock radio at the side of my bed, and when she died for 3 months after, the nights we went out, my radio would turn it's self on and that track would play ( remember this was a radio not a cd or cassette player ) .... My dad died within 4 month of my best friend, and one day my then Boyfriend was having a go at me and my friends witnessed a metal magnet message board flew off my kitchen wall towards my BF, my Bf did not believe in the supernatural..... HE DOES NOW.

I have many more experiences, but I think these will suffice for now, don't you.

I used to get scared, but now I just live with it, cos I know it's the living that hurts you, not the dead.

I think I believe in energies and spirits more than ghosts. I think certain places that have seen suffering etc "remember" what happened there and the energy is changed there for ever. Sounds weird I know, but I visited Anne Frank's house in Amsterdam a few years ago and there is a definite feeling in the house that you pick up as you walk around, as if the actual building is still feeling the fear and suffering of the families living there.

On the issue of children experience more, is it that they have better imaginations, or is it that they are not so cynical yet and so more open to seeing/feeling/hearing things when they present themselves?

Ghosts,, do they exist. well modern research proves that most ghostly encounters are either misconceptions (as in you thought you saw 1 thing but actually saw something else) and or figments of your imagination brought on by many things but mostly by FEAR. How many times have you thought some one was behind you in the dark (night) but there isnt, things like that can exite your brain into believing such things.

My own experiences, well i have none. But i do try and go to 'supposidly' haunted places (at night) and see if i can meet a ghost, but to no prevail, maybe im not scared enough to see it.

So i would have to say I Believe in ghosts when I see one. or do i need to be believe in order to see, like fairys.

I do. I lived in a haunted house for 23 years. I have had many experiences. I cannot use these experiences to convince others.
Ghost hunters have gotten some compelling evidence but a skeptic debunk anything ....even the truth.

Some ghosts are scary some are not.

I am wondering why Yahoo doesn't have a category for the supernatural.

I have seen one ghost and felt a few more. The one I saw was a stranger and looked like she did in life but transparent, sort of. She was there one minute and gone the next. The others were relatives that had something to tell me.

The one I SAW startled me very much. Because I was a skeptic then.

I do believe in ghosts and the Spirit world. I have seen, felt, heard and even been killed by one who I pissed off! (luckily he decided that he didn't want me to be in his space forever! He just wanted to be left alone).
As for all these people telling you No, because there is no irrefutable evidence to prove it..... They are probably the Bible Thumpers! Yet, they still believe in their God! I am still waiting for "proof" of that one.
The reason most children experience the sensation of the Spirit World the easiest is because their mind has not been clouded by the Religious Fanatics or the "Morals" of society. They have a clearer picture of the way the things really are, rather than the way someone wants them to be!
