I have a roommate and friends that smoke all the time. I do not anymore, but it is always around me and I am inhaling it when they smoke. Does it go into your system or not? If so how long does it take to get out of your system, i have a drug test coming up. I really don't smoke, but if it is in my system, what to do??? Pleas help, don't want to fail for something I do not do. When I mean the smoke I mean the house is cloudy. Fortunatley he is moving out so I don't have to deal with that anymore.

drink lots and lots of water. tell your roommates you have a drug tests coming up and if they could please not smoke in the house for the next week or so. put fans in the house. have them running all day. open all the windows and doors when you are at home. Then drink more water. you want to flush as much of the toxins out of your system. Go ask a pharmacist. often they can tell you how long it will be in your system. it feels silly, but at least he knows what he is talking about. and he's not the drug tester.

It's in your system whether you smoke it or not, just because your roommate smoked it around you. I heard there's stuff you can take to clean out your system. Like the health food stores have it. But it takes almost a month to clean out your system otherwise. It would have been wise for YOU to be the one to move out long before this.

I assume that since you are having a drug test coming up, that they are smoking pot or some other drugs ... yes, second hand pot smoke can trigger a positive drug test ... if this is a real concern, maybe it's time to pick some new friends who share your non-smoking status

Of course second hand smoke gets into your system. I'm not quiet sure why you are worried about it showing up on a drug test. When you have a drug test done, they check for narcotics.

I would imagine that it would show up on toxicology reports the same as if you were doing it yourself. Second-hand smoke (of any sort - and I imagine you're not describing cigarettes here) is just as traceable and harmful as doing it yourself.
He needs to get his fix someplace else - if you are afraid of what might happen if you took a test, then you need to protect your own interests. Is he going to support you if you get fired because of HIS addiction? I think not. Tell him he CANNOT smoke in the house any more. End of story.

It will be in your system! If you are worried about cigarette smoke, I am sure that skin and saliva tests can be performed, but if it is the "other" smoke, it will probably be in your skin, hair follicles, lungs, under your fingernails, and of course you urine!
