I'm assuming you're just curious because many black people have a specific, unique hair that's different from other races, and its a fair enough question...for the people who had a fit about you asking, i think they are being a little dramatic, you're just curious but maybe you should phrase things and be more clear when you ask a question, like explaing why you wanna know and not just a one liner, people see an identification by race and they flip and think you're a racist...i dont. Anyway, My friend has very thick wirey course hair and has to use a lot of product to keep it looking nice and curly....she can only wash it once a week or it frizzes like crazy but she wets it every day and sorta rinses it.

Most of the black people I know wash their hair weekly, sometimes twice a week. Black hair, as a rule, is much drier than other hair, and that's why many black people have a tendency to use heavy oils and conditioners--to keep their hair tame, manageable, and from drying out. I saw on an Oprah show (YEARS ago when she was still doing makeovers, who's my baby's daddy, etc. type shows) that the use of these treatments for black hair should be frowned upon as most of the creams and oils are very, very thick and heavy, and it clogs the pores on the scalp and causes the hair to grow very slowly. Opran said that black hair should be washed at a minimum of three times per week, and a good, high quality leave in conditioner should be used.
Interesting fact for you: Do you know what the dirtiest part of the human body is? You'd think crotch, right? WRONG. It's the hair. Hair is very porous and absorbs everything (including germs, dirt, pollution, etc. in the air).

I cant answer this for all of the black people on the Earth. I wash mine every 2 days b/c I go to the gym Some black people wash it less often because our hair tends to get dry easier than caucasians, they have oilier hair. I wonder what made U ask this question. If U choose my answer as best, tell me why U ask this

I've had several black room mates who washed their hair every day. One of them used a blow dryer afterword that made a smell that would wake me and I would have to leave the room. Otherwise all of them maintained hair that was neat and well groomed. I was jealous of some because, all of us being military, they could "fro" their hair out to their shoulders and I couldn't have enough to cover my ears.

As often as possible, now are we going to exit the issue of races and stop identifying people as black, mexican or white?
