I am 33 years old and my husband is not able to work due to a recent permanently disabling injury. I have a job, but nothing is forever, and I only am a high school graduate. I work full time and take care of all the responsibilities at home, and have little free time, due to his disability. I am looking into going back to school for a business degree but am scared. I don't have kids yet, but don't want to watse the money for college if I am not cut out for it. I was not very good in school, but I have been working as an office / business manager since I was 18. Is college too hard for someone who has been out of school for so long? Tests, homework, MATH..... ARGH!

Just do it...you will be glad you did. Don't over analyze it. Register for your classes before you get too scared and talk yourself out of it. Its kind of a 'plug your nose, close your eyes and jump in' situation. I was the single parent of 2 small kids in my twenties when I went back. It was not easy...having homework, tests and papers to do while raising my boys, but I am so glad that I just plugged my nose and jumped in. It was very scary, but you CAN do it!

Don't be afraid - step out of your comfort zone and go for it. If you're an office manager now, there are college programs that offer business degrees that you can obtain while still working.

I got my degree by attending school one night a week. It seemed like it lasted forever, but it was only three years and I got the degree in the end. I was nervous to go back also, but most of the people in the class were older like myself and I met (and still keep in touch with) great people that were very supportive and cool.

You owe it to yourself to try. Start off slowly and take an evening class just to get back into the swing of being in school again. Then go forward and work with a school counselor to set up a schedule and program that'll work for you and your situation.

Good luck and just stay positive - you can totally do this and I think it's really cool that you want to go back - it's always great to continue learning and exercising your mind!

You can do anything you set your mind to doing!!!!

Start at a community college as a non-matriculating (which means not seeking a degree at this time). It doesn't mean that credits earned wouldn't be applicable to a degree at a later time.
Sign up for one course in something you might be interested in such as an English or a math or even sociology or psychology. You don't have to have a time frame. It took me five years to get a 2 year (associates degree) but I finished it and went on to get a bachelors all the while working not one job but two or possibly three. Granted that's a bit crazy but no more than what you are doing with your job, husband and household duties!

You don't need to dive into something head first without checking the depth.

But believe in yourself. You can do it!!!

I returned to school when I was forty to obtain a degree in computer science. I graduated five years later. I found the classes easier than when I first took college classes out of high school (I was an engineering student, got burned out). I found that I had more determination, maturity, and experience to draw upon when I returned. I was working full time, my wife was fully disabled and on Social Security, and I had one son in high school and one in grade school. It was hard but I committed myself to the task and got my degree. It will be hard, but the payoff is worth it. You should go for it.

I'm sure you'll do great! my mom is almost 42 and she's going back to school to be a nurse. She's gone back many times to pursue new careers and each time she's been nervous but everything has worked out. the kids don't treat her any different and she enjoys school! I hope you do well and I'll pray for you!

regrettably, there is not lots that could be finished. The liberals gladly will sacrifice protection for "freedom". yet they don't understand that while you at the instant are not secure, you at the instant are not fairly loose. supaypahuahua - the only element i'm able to think of of is that consistent with danger after he shot the 1st guy or woman interior the dorm, he concealed out and that they concept he left the campus. Dimples - I completely believe you. yet as I mentioned, the liberals might have suits on the belief of steel detectors, searches, etc. considering could desire to invade privateness and interfere on "freedom".

Be brave and go back to school. I am 34 years, and have been in the schooling system for 20 years. It's never too late for you to go back to school. You'll be surprised how your income will rise once you get that degree.
