Yes...you can get pregnant on the day you ovulate. Actually when you ovulate you have a 24 to 48 hour window for the egg to become fertilized. Sperm can live inside your body for up to 72 hours. If you are trying to prevent pregnancy I would use protection, but if you are trying to become pregnant it is best to have sex 10 days, 12 days, 14 days, 15 days, 16 days, and 18 days after the first day of your last menstrual period. Implantation of the fertilized egg can take anywhere from 6 to 10 days after ovulation. After implantation, your body starts to produce the HCG hormone, which is what is detected by home pregnancy tests. It takes a few days for the HCG to build up enough to be detected with a home pregnancy test, therefore it is best to wait until you have missed a period, to take a pregnancy test. Hope that helps. Good luck!

It's actually best to have sex the day before, or right before you ovulate since the egg can only live for less than a day, but the sperm can live inside you for up to 5 days....... it's best to have the sperm there and ready and waiting so you don[t miss the peak times. Many people believe the egg is good for 24 hours, but it is actually in prime position only about 6 to 8 hours. . go get a book called Taking Charge of your fertility by Toni Weschler. It will help you understand your body and all the myths about it. It will help you time when you are ovulating and the best times to conceive. My Doctor recommended it to me and after 1 year of trying I got the book. It worked the very next month. It turns out that my timing was wrong due to mis-information. I hope it helps you, too! It's not only about getting pregnant. It's about knowing your body and knowing when you are fertile or not. You can pick and choose what you do with your info. Good luck and don't listen the all the myths!

The only time of the month that you are fertile is in the days leading up to and including ovulation. Sperm can live in your system for up to five days waiting for ovulation and the egg survives about 24 hours after. Thus conception will occur within 24 hours of ovulation even though you may have had sex three or four days prior; implantation (which is the medical definition of pregnancy) occurs 6-12 days later.

Considering a sperm cell can live up to 72 hours. (or more in good conditions), you can get pregnant if you have sex 3-4 days before you ovulate, to about 3 days after. There is a 7 day window of opportunity within your ovulation date. But if you are not totally sure when you ovulate, (which is not always 14 days after your period), them you can get pregnant just about any time.

Most people say that if you have sex within 12-24 hours of ovulating you increase your chances of getting pregnant. Some say if you have sex between 24-48 hours of ovulating. It really depends on your body and how well do you know yourself. However, from personal experience I had sex the day before I ovulated and got pregnant.

yes, but for most ppl it is a day before you ovulate. You see, when you ovulate the egg only lives 6-12 hrs. so if you have sex then it takes awhile for the sperm to reach the egg and it could be dead before the sperm even reach it. Now if you have sex a day before you ovulate there will be sperm waiting there for the egg when it is released.

That's THE day you get pregnant. As soon as that egg is relaesed (ovulation), you have 24 hrs from that moment, that it is traveling through your fallopian tube. Once it's outside the tube and into your uterus, it implants itself & it's to late.
