When I leave his house I smell like an ashtray. I can't STAND the way I smell! Even if I take a shower there or right before I go there I HAVE to take another one when I go home and can't stand to wear the same clothes to class or work...Is there anything that hides the odor of smoke or anything?? Please help =/

I'm currently engaged (and living with) a smoker, but it isn't all that bad because he never smokes inside of the house. He does smoke inside of his truck, which makes it very uncomfortable for me because I am very sensitive to smoke. (We've had some major fights and he isn't allowed to ride in my car unless he agrees not to smoke... which is why we primarily travel in his truck, even though it's cramped having 3 adults in a vehicle designed for two!)

My suggestions are that you ask your boyfriend to smoke outdoors (and you stand a few feet away from him) or that you request that he switch to a form of smokeless tobacco such as dip, chew, or snuff (powder) while you're around. Smokeless tobacco is actually worlds safer than cigarettes or cigars.

My fiancé purchased the book _For_Smokers_Only_ online a few months ago. There are some really in-depth studies cited in the book and it's interesting how many anti-tobacco people are against smokeless tobacco, even though it's much safer than smoking, because it's still "unsafe" if even one in a thousand people gets a benign form of oral cancer.

I don't use tobacco products myself and I find it rather disgusting when my fiancé spits into a cup, but at least I don't have to shower or smell like an ashtray or bar. When I was first dating him, we used to go to a bar where we met for karaoke night (we had mutual friends who sang) but I would always come home and have to shower and change clothes because the smell of smoke was so strong.

He has managed to cut his smoking down to about a quarter-pack a day while he's driving (out of habit), but he "dips" (think Skoal or Kodiak... though his brand of choice is Grizzly "long cut straight") while playing videogames or watching television.

I've never tried dip myself, but the thought of it makes me cringe. I hope that helps!

Okay here is the easiest answer ever, if he loves you, he needs to give up the cigarettes that's what he needs to do. This is needed for his own health. It is a dirty, disgusting habit. He should think about his own health being ruined and his clothing and house and self smelling bad. Cigarettes are so expensive also, and what a complete waste of money. I am so blessed that I have never smoked, I know that it is a tough habit to break, but any of the reasons I have listed should be enough to make him, seriously; stop the cigarettes. I cannot stand the smell of smoke on my clothes or in my hair also. I don't know how you can stand being around the man, let alone kissing him. Yuck, must be like kissing a dirty ashtray. When I have to be around friends who smoke I have to come home and shower and change clothing also. I also have allergies, so this would actually be a health issue for me. You cannot get the smell of smoke off of yourself without showering and changing. I do not know a single person who knows the answer to this, bottom line is he needs to quit or you need to learn to like the, I'm practically choking just typing this; smokey smell. Good luck

Obviously you don't want to leave your boyfriend and I think it is stupid for all of these people to tell you to do so.

You can use febreeze or another thing called ozium(sp). The ozium you spray after or while he's smoking and it will take the smell of smoke out of the air immediately! I have heard that a lot of people who smoke in rental cars will use this and nobody never knows the difference.

Hope this helps!

You really only have two options. 1. Convince your boyfriend to quit smoking though the odor will still be in his house. OR 2. Find a boyfriend who doesn't smoke.

I'm allergic to tobacco smoke. After having been in a neighbor's house for as little as 10-15 minutes, I have to change clothes and wash my hair before I can get rid of the headache that comes with it.

Sorry to hear it, cigs STINK! I imagine that since there is smoking going on in the house your towels and EVERYTHING smell. I hope your room stays closed up because I couldn't bear to hear that you have to sleep in stink too. My only suggestion is to have a talk with your mom about the affects it is having on you. Otherwise Febreeze works wonders, maybe get a fresh smelling body spray to spray your hair with when you leave the house. Good Luck to you.

If you use something that hides that smell your cloth will smell like smoke and something else.
Cant you just explain your boyfriend the situation?
Anyway it will be better if you make him stop smoking :)

It seems like nobody in this forum ever heard of an EcoQuest Air Purifier. Put one of these in your house, turn it on, and in about 24 hrs. you won't believe the difference. The Purifying elements it puts in the air also keep the odors from buidling up in your hair and clothes as much as well.

Dr. Laura endorses this and tells how it gets rid of musty odors in her office.

I think there is not any product out there to hide the tobacco smell and yes you need to do something about, more if ou work in a professional environment... Your boyfriend probably does not love you enough for him to make a sacrifice, so leave him... A relationship is giving and getting... Love can change anything and any one. Does he really loves you?

I TOTALLY understand what you mean! My boyfriend smokes like a chimney and my whole self smells like cigars. I use as much perfume as I can but then they mix up and form a special smell that stinks worse that just tobacco.

I try to persuade him into not smoking and he tries but his hand involuntary goes to the cigars. I like the smell sometimes but other times I can't stand it!

I suggest that you spray anti-tobacco in his house and hide his cigars. I do it often and he forgets about them for some time.

The best thing to use is Febreeze, as weird as it sounds. You can actually spray it on your clothes. It doesnt cover up the odor it actually absorbs it.

I smoke in my car so i use it on my car as well so it doesnt stink like an ashtray. Its safe to use on your clothes as well.
