It depends on what you hope to accomplish.

Aptitude gives you the skills necessary to do the job.

Attitude gives you the desire to persevere and "smooth out the bumps in the road" so that nothing gets in the way of your aptitude.

If you have a LARGE amount of one or the other, it can often "leap the gap" between struggle and success (i.e., the very talented, or the very motivated, can often succeed in a situation that would be grim for someone else).

If you're talking about working with someone, though, you basically need both -- and often attitude is more important (since you have to work as a team and get along), whereas you only need the basic level of aptitude to get the job done.

Coworkers with lots of aptitude and a poor attitude are useless to a team and should be assigned tasks to do by themselves.

I'd say attitude. A person could have great aptitude, but if they had a bad attitude, there would still be a problem. I would assume that the person would have at least an average amount of aptitude for the task.

You can have a win all attitude but if you can not back up the attitude with skill and capability the you are out of luck. To be a success your aptiude should be more imprtant but having a positive attiude and nice demeanor will only escalate your talents further. A complete package is what most people look for be it for jobs or relationships. The true key is balance of both aspects. Good luck!

Attitude! People can teach someone with a good attitude, but they can't stand even the best with a bad attitude. That's why doctor's who have a good bedside manner, and are honest and kind with their patients are less likely to get sued, even if they do make a mistake, then a doctor who is pompous and arrogant, and does not listen to his patients.

Balance is the key. Both are equally important and necessary for success.
