Towards the end of the movie the little Empress of Fantasia tells Bastien (spelling??) to call her name. He throws open the window and screams her name. What is her name? We can't understand him! Subtitles don't work on the DVD that we have.

lol looks like you're getting a different answer from everyone hehe i haven't seen that movie since i was a kid, but i remember it being wonderful! it might be my next choice when i go rent again :)

Initially the Childlike Empress has no name, but is later given her name, Moon Child (German Mondenkind), by Bastian Balthazar Bux. The Empress is given a new name by each human child who visits Fantastica, so in fact she did have a name before Moon Child but it was given to her so long ago that it was forgotten by the people and creatures of Fantastica.

Actually, she doesnt have a name...she is known as the Childlike Empress, but later was given the name of Moon Child (german-modenkind)

I believe it was Aurora, which is the name Bastien had written on the paper w/ the unicorn on it that his dad had gotten fr/ 1 of his teachers & discussed w/ Bastien at begining of movie.

You are not suppose to be able to understand her name. Also if you read the original book(s), her name is never given to the readers. It is different for every person who hears the name. So they can not tell you the name. (Nice way for the movie to get around that problem from the book)

Wasn't it his (the kids) mothers name!! ... but I don't remember her name!!! When they were talking during the movie about the name he needed to shout, they said something about it being the name of somebody special, so he yelled out his mom's name. It's been forever since I have seen the movie, but I think that was it!

didn't he have to shout out his mother's name? Wasn't his mother recently deceased?
It has been too many years since I watched the movie,it is around here somewhere on a vhs tape.
