In my view, Apple got the style and 'X' factor.
Creative's products have better functions (longer battery life etc), cheaper but somehow consumers still want style over function.
For reliability, I think both companies make rather good products.
I think its up to your own personal preferences to choose which of the players (regardless of brand) suits your needs more.

Creative. Better and more features. More robust. Lower price. Better connector. Moreover it's a Singapore product.

Apple makes better products, software, design and has legendary tech support.
Creative is...well, meh. Pretty much the only thing they have a serious upper hand on is the pricing. And their software for their products is bloated and bluggy.

depends on what you want. Creative has more functions and features, but apple has the edge with user interface and easy of usability.
