i saw this Q twice n two contrasting views came 2 my mind. i m just opening my heart out(if views came in mind, why m i opening heart....hi hi hi).
1. it is d rrespect to the customs, traditions, culture which has evolved of ages which glorifies wimbledon, it is what which makes it different from rest n thats why its called mecca of tennis.
2. it is where british get a feel of supremacy that they have their say.else every time they r following america. it is where they get a feel of imperial days n feel proud.
so it is not just a dress, but a symbol of their attitude which is hidden somewhere in their mind that they r still supreme n by continuing so, by not listening to anyone they derive a sense of pleasure. its simple psychology man.

tennis was first a all white-n-green game. they opposed black for long but it did enter. then came aggasi with certain bit of colours.
watch out for d day when it too will b as colourfull as our holi.
