Tweety Bird (also known as Tweety Pie or simply Tweety) is a fictional character in the Warner Bros. Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies series of animated cartoons. Tweety's popularity, like that of The Tasmanian Devil, actually grew in the years following the dissolution of the Looney Tunes cartoons. Today Tweety is considered, along with Taz and Bugs Bunny, among the most popular of the Looney Tunes characters, especially (because of his "cute" appearance and personality) among girls and young women. Despite widespread speculation that he was female, Tweety is and has always been a male character.

wELL theres alot of controversy over the sex of Tweety but Mel Blanc who voiced Bugs Bunny and some other Looney Tunes said that he is Male but was given a female name cause he had to accompany Old Granny and always was hunted down by sylvester the cat....since it would show violence portraying male cat hunting female bird they made him male and gave him female name.......... get it? and made people realize that he was male.......further more in one of tweety's adventure movies which was identical to "around the world in 80 days" he made a girlfriend tooo.........."I THOT I THAW A PUTTY TAT"

He is male because female canaries don't sing, males do.
