Provide for the military as a defense against invasion (not to be used for nation-building), handle law enforcement, provide and maintain necessary infrastructure (interstate roads, etc.), and to enforce the personal liberties and civil rights of the citizens against all threats, foreign and domestic.
The govt should stay out of private personal relationships, leave corporate regulation to the free market forces of capitalism, and take from the citizens only what is absolutely necessary to provide those essential services.

To strictly adhere to the eight enumerated powers in the Constitution. After that, it should just get out of my way and let me rise to my highest level of success with the least amount of government possible. Unfortunately, libs see it exactly opposite to that way...
