Zinn is an apologist for the corporatists in the Dem and GOP parties, in my opinion.

He raises issues, but chases them down with straw man arguments and often concludes with results that are expository in nature but fail to get to the root of corruption.

He never walks the issues all the way to their conclusion, showing the shared aganda's and roots of both US political parties, revealing the financial ties and corporate leaders who control our executive branch, or how the US has been completely usurped by private financial interests.

Zinn captures the attention of Americans who know that there's a deep problem, and then he redirects them away from the source of corruption and the means to correct it.

Added:

In response to Thomas (below), I've read about Zinn and I've read his works. he goes further than most people do to explain and expose important facts, but as i've already stated, he only goes so far. He never gets down to the nitty gritty of which financiers are currently involved in controlling our government or which departments are funneling funds to accounts where they're distributed to Wall Street accounts, etc.

I maintain my position that Zinn is promoted to be the guy who tells it all, when in reality, he scratches the surface but never gives his readers the core of corruption.

Howard Zinn is a self avowed Marxist- Socialist who political leanings, books and articles rail against his favorite Issues. hes an avowed pacifist, anti war activist and opposes violently the "Capitalist State". Curiously he seems never to have had a problem with trhe Capitalist state for providing him with millions earned off his books and lectures. He has beem heavily involved n ever increasing vitriolic diatribe against the Government, corporations, etc. His favorite topics being war, civil rights and anti war activities. If theres any doubt to his political leanings consider that he said that the Axis In World War II could have been beaten with "Nonviolent protests". hes a darling of the political left.

First read about him before you criticize him. You will be surprised because it is not what one would expect. Then read his books, columns and essays. He will make you think, he will make you mad but I'm glad he is here to help us try to understand what really goes on in this country. I think he is a great historian and even a greater man.
