Conceiving a baby boy.....?

Question

My husband and I are going to start trying for our forth child in November. We have already had three beautiful girls and we really want a boy. This is our last time so I want to do everything possible to influence the sex of this child. And tips or wives tales?????

*****Please, don't answer with "you should just pray for a healthy baby" because OF COURSE that is my FIRST concern. And if I do give birth to another little girl, she will be just as loved. I just want to try to influence the sex ~even with fun little tips like positions =)....but we will be happy with our child no matter what the outcome.

LOL....everyone that is telling me to use the Chinese Gender Chart....haha, that is why we are starting in November!! The chart says that November through May are boys for us. I've been told that it was pretty acurate as well so I am going to go by it!! You never know right?? BTW....Good luck to all the others trying to concieve. first of all....i have 2 boys and trying for a girl...how about if you have a girl and i have a boy we'll do the old switcharoo?? jk - okay heres some methods for a boy: have sex as early as 24 hrs before ovulation to no more than 12 hrs past ovulation. some wives tales are: eats lots of red meat, salty snacks, and softdrinks. have sex at night on odd numbered days, with the woman on top. also try the chinese birth chart! thats what im goin for! good luck to you :)

XY (Male sperm) have less chromosomal material to carry, since the Y chromosome is signifigantly smaller. In theory they are "faster" swimmers. It has been sugested that timing your fertility so that your egg is "ripe" right as the sperm "arrive" in the trac at the right place at the right time "could" help your chances.

It can take the sperm as few as 30 minutes and as much as 2 days to reach the egg in the falopian tube. Where they will meet, join and then travel as the embryo to implant in the uterus.

Have sex each day three days leading up to your ovulation date.


To increase your chances of a girl, have sex ON your ovulation date, the XX sperm are slower, but more enduring. Semen may live for up to 5 days in your system. Usually the window for ovulation is only a couple days.

If you are REALLY serious about choice, and have some money to burn, a fertility doctor can help you choose an option for "family balancing" It is simple based on the different "Weight" of the nucleus that carry the XX and the XY. They spin your husbands sperm in a centrifuge, and the sperm separate into two layers, the female and the male. It isn't 100% but it is pretty good, like 95%.

It is a very new technology, and only available to people who already have a child of one sex and want a child of the oppocite sex, for family "balancing".

My husband and I have a daughter, so we are trying for a boy as well. My husband also has 2 daughters from a previous marriage, so it would be nice to have a little boy. My OB advised me to stop having sex on day 10 of my cycle to let my hubby's sperm count build up, then have sex on the day I ovulate. I have been charting my bbt, but she said this month to use ovulation kits. She is ttc herself and uses the Clear Blue Easy kit because it's very accurate and easy to use. Anyway, the reason for this is because the male sperm swim faster, but the female sperm live longer. Therefore, if you can have sex closest to your ovulation time, it increase your chances of the male sperm fertilizing the egg. She has seen research that supports this theory. I am trying it for the first time this month. Hopefully it works, but I'll be happy as long as I'm pregnant - boy or girl. Good luck.

if you're trying for a boy, you should have sex the day of ovulation or the day before. (this increases the chance for you to conceive a boy, simply because girls live longer). If you are charting your BBTs this would be easier to pin point for some women (some don't show a dip before the thermal shift). Or you can use OPT, simply test 2x a day and have sex 12-24 hours after the LH surge. Good luck!

there are loads of myths on how to infuence gender & thats all they are myths. apparently you should only have sex on certian days of the year - regardless of wher you are in your cycle, you should only eat sour things, whilst avioding dairy products & have sex standing up... its all a load of rubbish.

your husbands sperm decides the sex of the baby so nothing you do to your body will make any difference. however there is one fact that people can use to their advantage if they would prefer a certian sex baby.

boy sperm swim faster & die quicker than girl sperm, whereas girl spirm swim slower & live longer than boy sperm - on average.
this is nowhere near a guarenteed way of ensuring the babys sex.

so..... if you want a girl baby you have sex through the month & get a ovulation kit, then stop having sex once youve ovulated - the boy sperm will die off while the girl sperm go on to get the egg.

if you want a boy baby you refrain from sex & then once youve ovulated you have loads - the girl sperm will take their time while the boy sperm race for the egg.

For a boy it basically says this: Have sex the day of ovulation, deep penetration, and have an orgasm.

Supposedly boy sperm is faster than girl sperm, so the closer you have sex to ovulation, the better your chances are for a boy.

But I would read the book for better clarification on this. It should be available at your local library. Mine had a copy.

they have a procedure now where you can choose, I have no idea at what cost but I am sure it's not too expensive. Its a little scary to think of new procedures and things but if you really want one, its still going to be your child. You can try this website chinagold.com and use the Chinese calandar. My hushand and i are trying right now too, and we have a beatiuful little girl and we hope for a boy this time too. We are try to use this calandar(our first time ) and i heard from other people said it pretty accurate, but i sure it may not work for everybody, but you can try it. Good luck!
