Today is my birthday. Today I am 16. Today my parents say that under no circumstances can we celebrate. And no one in the family is allowed to tell me happy birthday. My parents say that the day of my birth was the darkest day of their lives. So I must stay in my room all day while the rest of the family mourns and all the neighbors come over and comfort them.

Personally, I'd be sneaking out to go stay with my friends. And if my parents didn't understand how belittling it is that no one's allowed to tell me Happy Birthday, they need counseling! As if my birth were some shameful secret.

Not really believing the situation! Would of been more believable if you didn't mention the neighbours coming over to comfort them unless you live in some wird community and they all think the same but very doubtful!
