IF we begin to prevent countrys from arming themselves then should we not respect all the rest who want all nations to disarm .

Because Iran is making threats to USE the things.
The Iranian President called for the ANNIHILATION of another country.
Plain flat out said country should be wiped off the map.
Self determination:)
We lived under threat of annihilation from the end of WW2 to the end of the COLD WAR.
In fact when I was Catholic School kid in the sixties we actually had BOMB drills. The nuns herded us into hallway and we crouched down and faced the wall while the NUNS led us in song.
Heard somebody once say on news program that we will look back on the COLD WAR like it was the good old days.
He was right.
You do remember the COLD WAR? ...don't you?
And when the Soviets began moving missiles into CUBA President Kennedy didn't spout blurbs about self determination.
We had an eyeball to eyeball confrontation with the SOVIETS.
Terrorist sympathizers and advocates of wiping Israel of the map
are very keen on Mid East States arming themselves with Nuclear Weapons.
AT least during the COLD WAR our opponents were sane.
The Russians did not want to die.
The Americans did not want to die.

If you had a neighbor, who is a known felon, stock piling weapons in his basement and is well known for his socializing with your worst enemy, would you be OK with allowing him "The right of self-determination"?
The United States and most of the rest of the world has been disarming themselves for the last twenty years to make this a safer world. You are saying we should allow the world's most notorious criminals to arm up against a world diminished of THEIR ability to fight back.

The problem is they are not self-determined. They government is not a democratic government, it is a theocratic government with Ahmadijenad as the dictator along with the heads of religion. There is no self determination for the people, they bend to the "will of Allah" or they are severely punished.
P.s. what about Israel's self determination? The President of Iran has already publicly called for the destruction of Israel. What do you think they are going to do with nukes, if they were to develope them???

Iran is a rogue state that sponsors terrorism. You want that runnin' wild in the world? Don't you remember what happened on 9/11/01? I guess not. Your rant makes absolutely no sense. Iran SHOULD NOT have nukes. When they figure out real democracy and how to live in a world without using terrorism....WHEN THEY GROW UP....then maybe we can allow them to play with the adult toys. Even if the US agreed to disarm it would never happen.We would lie and say we did it, but we really wouldnt. The US doesnt want Iran to have nuclear weapons, because they cant control Iran.Iran doesnt toe the line with us, so we seek to call him a terrorist and an anti semite and a danger to world peace.

They have displayed the inability of restraint. They cant have nukes for the same reason we dont let convicted felons carry guns.
