i wouldnt try to do it on the roads, they have websites where u can go and learn from pro's and seasoned professionals.
also, cars like your toyota celica...dont drift too well, find a rear-wheel drive car with the engine in the front (an FR drive). They're the easiest to learn, and yes!!! lots of money to buy, maintain and drift in...espically tyres!

It's fun and all, but I don't consider it "racing". It is more "driving with style". A controlled turn is faster than drifting, though not as cool. The other posters are correct that it's much easier with a rear wheel drive vehicle, and additional HP (torque) helps to break the wheels loose. If you drive a car with traction control, you'll have to turn the TC off or it'll never work.
A couple more things;
You will burn through a lot of rubber on your tires.
You will end up going backwards or sideways into or off of something. Find replacement fenders and bumper covers now if you are a nit-picker for your bodywork.

It is extremely difficult to grasp at first but once you get the hang of it, it is very cool. There are so many things different techniques that people use to drift but you have to be a skilled driver to pull these things off. It's really very interesting.

The next "Need For Speed" game will focus on drifting in canyons. If you're a fan of drifting, look for it!

I enjoy it IT always reminds me of the movie the fast and the furious Tokyo drifting. I LOVE THAT MOVIE. But anyway it is dangerous.What make me enjoy it is the SPEED!

It's an interesting sport and very dangerous. Maybe it's the thrill of spinning the car around in circles and circles.

I do this every Fri/Sat in Ontario Ca, its one of the greatest feelings in the world . Plus Girls love it lol.
