I beat him by a long shot, and right when I nearly hit the finish line (I was about 2.5 carlengths ahead of him, 3 carlengths from the finish line), he passed me and beat me at the last moment. How can they do that (no NO2)?

Your gearing could be for more acceleration while his is tuned for top end speed. Try lowering your gear ratio.

Depends on how the power to gear ratio is.
If you have close gears your car will sprint up to say 60 Mph fairly fast, where as another car may have longer gears, meaning 0-60 is slower but maybe 50 - 100 is much faster.
This is something I notice in Mustangs 0 -40 is average 40 - 80 is very fast. Civics are quick 0 -40 then slow down a lot.

even with all the additions and variations it really is noticeably not likely that you will be in a position to promote that automobile for more effective than $7000 to $8000. it is because maximum clientele received't pay over 100 and fifty% of e book and NO finance organization will improve more effective than the "ordinary mortgage fee" therefore significantly proscribing your means marketplace. All those toys and upload on's do not improve the marketplace fee close to as a lot as they value.

Because cars take differing amounts of time to reach speed.

Take the story of the tortoise and the hare. The hare was so fast, he though he was bound to win, so he took a nap, but the tortoise, slow and steady, passed him in his sleep and took the race.

So your car may be faster to reach speeds, but the car that takes a long time to reach higher speeds may be travelling much faster once it reaches that speed.

And it's differences just like those that make racing fun to watch.

That's what makes drag racing fun. He might have spun his tires at the line and took the rest of the trip to catch you. He may also have a bunch more horsepower than you or different gearing.

Shifting and gear ratios are definatly key but it sounds like he was playing with you, he knew he was going to win. Alot of times its not one car beating another but one driver beating another.

drag racing you was doing bracket racing.. you got the head start because you dial time was slower than his. you start first while he sits and waits for his side of the tree to count down to his green lite.. now he has to us his horse power to chase you down and win . as long as he does not go faster that his dial time and break out.
