I also work for cingular. All you have to do is go into a store, call 611 from your cell phone, or call 1-800-901-9878 for Pick Your Plan services. Tell them that your still with the old AT&T free to go pre-paid service and you want to "migrate" to cingular's pay as you go. The main down side about keeping the old number is that your going to have to buy a new phone and sim card. At my store that's atleast $125; that's minimum $100 for the phone (no new number no discount on phone) and $25 for the sim card (I may be able to get that credited to your account). So in closing, way your options: new phone pay more or new phone number pay less: either way you'll be with cingular.

PS get away from AT&T as soon as you can because those towers are disapearing or being switched to cingular, suncom, or t-mobile towers and your phone not able to deal with the change.

You can port your number from any service to any other service. The trick with pay-as-you-go services is that you will need a new handset for the new service and your old service will need to be in good standing (it has to have a few minutes or credits or dollars left in the account). So, you will almost always have to buy a new phone. The good news is that you can sell the old phone once the switch is complete and the old account has ceased to be.

The wide type portability rule became placed into outcome, even with the undeniable fact that the circuitry contained in the phone can not be "ported". there are certain phones made in certain for particular vendors or perhaps as you could keep your wide type you usually could purchase a telephone from the recent service as their community of calling structures isn't like your previous one. you're in a position to have your telephone remodeled simiarly like a pager will be back contained in the day (even as they were extra universal than a cellular telephone), yet i'm not particular how a lot it might value you. good success.

I wouldn't do anything with cingular, I have had bad dealings with them.
