because big countries and big firms suckin their blood, they don't let little countries have an independent economy.

Well suffering needs better definition, but having said that the comment is not necessarily accurate. Some small nations especially in the EU are not suffering at all. In fact they have great influence, wealth and a better general quality of life. It is all dependant on the policies of the rulers and the resolve of the populous to hold them to account. Genrally where there is suffering you will see these two elements exist, a tyrannical leader(ship) and population not yet ready to fight the system...that is the recipe (in my opinion) for suffering!

That's not true! Russia is the world's biggest nation and have suffered more than most people. From a thousand years of serfdom under the Imperial family, and then nearly 100 years of opression under communism, and now they have an increasingly invasive "democratic" government. Switzerland is a small country, yet I'd rather live there than anywhere else in the world - they haven't had a war for 400 years.

The Chinesse population may disagree, as would some of the larger African nations. Conversely the UK, Belgium (except the two world wars) etc etc seem to be doing ok.
Do you have any examples?
