You can go to the following website to request an official copy of your own marriage license. You can request an marriage license for a relative who is deceased for geneology work as well. In the past, I have conducted a search for a copy of a marriage license for people I wasn't related to - just searching in the county or city they lived in - just out of curiousity. Because so many government sites electronically archive copies of these types of documents it is amazing what you can find out about a person - anything from an application for a marriage license to a traffic ticket is public domain.
