how would you clean a airconditioner?

no not the filter the inside,,we smoke and the window unit smells like stale nicotene,,

can i use easy off oven cleaner and rinse it out with a water hose? and yes out of the window

no oven cleaner. you need to take the unit out of the window, hose it down from the inside out, let it dry, and yes, spray the filter out or get a new one. Also when you put the unit back into the window make sure it is slightly tilted to the outside so the water drains out of the unit when it is running.

Never use Bleach, buy some Coil Cleaner at Home Depot- Bleach was cause every thing to rust. Brush away all the dust first.

I wouldn't use easy off, way to harsh for Aluminum. A hardware might carry a 'coil cleaner' that we use in the trade. And it might be smaller than the gallon size I buy. I can't think of a household replacement to that.

if you have a window unit then take a spray bottle filled with bleach. spray it down very good and let sit for about 30 minutes. turn it on and it should also take out the mold also. helps the a.c. work more efficiently also.
