My mom recently had a pap done and her results came back as abnormal, and something about a typical cells. She wont tell me anything more, I think she is scared. What does it mean? I am too scared for her...

Your mom had abnormal cells which is what A-Typical means. It could be anything from having a yeast infection, she could have just had her period and thats why it was abnormal, or something really could be wrong. But rest asure it is NOT cancer! Her doctor will probably ask her to come back in a few months for another Pap, and that one could come out fine. And if it doesnt, then they will probably do a biopsy and take out a piece of her cervix to see what is wrong. But like I said, it is NOT cancer. Hope that helps.

I have had the same thing for three years and have to go back every six months. Nothing so far just watching me. It can be as simple as a virus that won't go away or the beginnings of cancer, the doctors just keep doing tests and snips to watch. She is probably just scared and the docs aren't sure either. Try to talk to her and tell her you're concerned, if she has any info she'll probably share but she may not know a lot yet. Good luck to her and you.
