If it so bad as you say, then we should have people leaving in droves, in fact it's quite the opposite.

All over the Yahoo Answers there are people that hate their own conutry (the U.S.) But yet they remain living here. I know it's a great place to live. I just want to know why they stay if that hate is so much

What is your point? That you can't write a coherent sentence? In that case, bravo, good job!

Edit: Considering you have no idea what I look like, that's really not so effective an insult, now is it? Now when I say to you that you are a sub-sophomoric, confused ******** that couldn't pen an interesting sentence to save his life, well see that has a bit of meat to it. Don't worry, keep trying little one, you'll get there. Someday.

It has plenty of problems, but is still far better than many other countries. At least here there is economic opportunity. At least here the homeless people just have to worry about finding a soup kitchen and a shelter, not armies or rebels from neighboring countries killing them off, or starving to death beacuse of droughts and famine affecting the entire nation, or being imprisoned and executed for speaking out against the goevrnment.

And that's people at the very bottom- for people at the very top, the USA offers all the best that a celebrity lifestyle has to offer. In the middle, for the working class- it's not so different from other places like Canada or Europe. But nowhere else do people enjoy as much personal freedom.

Good question! Some stay because they can't afford to go else where, others travel else where and find living condition worse than in USA, Others have families living here and don't want to leave family and friends. People come here because its the best place in the world to live poor, and many immigrants find poverty on arrival. My Grandfather was an immigrant, found life hard, and was poor, but being poor here was so much better, he thought the USA was heaven on earth.

Canada has a higher immigration rate than the US, and for 6 years in a row was voted by the UN as the best country in the world to live. The US is like the world champion prize fighter. Everyone wants to take a shot at the leader..we like you guys, just not madly in love with Bush at the moment.

What is your definition of terrible ?

There will be certain places in a big country that will really turn off people but there will be many more that will attract them.

To many Asians, the word 'USA' signifies a grand country with plenty of golden opportunities to earn big money ...it is also a land of hope & freedom for many poor people from other countries ...thus why they come in droves

The US is probably the most comfortable place to live, but right now people are realizing that our country is facing many serious problems. There is nothing driving people from there homes here, and although many are dissatisfied with our state of affairs: health, education, taxes, privacy, jobs, housing ; people will stay and just gripe about it. Hopefully, Americans will continue to get more involved because if we all spoke up about the wrongs then surely good changes would come about.

Because those who say they hate it and will leave if Bush is elected are hypocrites. Take Barbra Streisand for example. A big hypocrite. Bush got elected and she's still here. Why? Because she knows there ain't no place as good for her pocketbook as the USA. She's just talk...

The first answer has to be a question: "Who said that the US is the most terrible place to live and why?

After that answer then we can get down to the discussion.

Opportunity. Though the US may not be the safest place to live, there is nowhere in the world where you have the opportunity to make as much money as you do here. Hence, people come, regardless of whether they end up making that much money or not.
