is it fair that in newspapers and tv, and magazines that there are always semi naked girly pics, its constantly in our faces, the internet is swamped by this, and also the SUNDAY SPORT and other lad mag types, are not on the top shelf! why is everything aimed at men through images, and would the men be happy if the tables turned,??? lol

No, it's not fair.
I see nothing wrong with a woman expressing her sexual freedom. What I do have a problem with is when it becomes a marketing ploy and selling tactic.
Because in essence, they are "prostituting" a excessive amount of women in exchange for money. So that men may have their "sexual fantasy" fulfilled. In the exploitation of women, the media has become PIMP.

Women aren't just sexual creatures. We are more than that. But women's intelligence doesn't sell. Is it the articles in Playboy that grab men's attention more so than the pictures? No, it's not.

People keep saying that men are more visual than women. Last time I checked, I had eyes and so do lots of women. Perhaps women would feel more comfortable using their 'visuals' if we had stimulating eye candy to look at as well.
People have been"speculating" what women's reaction to the tables being turned would be ("women wouldn't be interested because women are not stimulated visually") but is this accurate? No, it's not. It's Speculation. It does not speak for All women.

The message that society/media is sending is that it's acceptable for an excessive amount of women to be "scantily clad" or "nude" to sell magazines. But it's "questionable" for women to be media consumers of "scantily clad" or "nude" men. (That we can be the "prostitutes" but not the "interested" buyers).
I take some people have forgotten the Numerous amounts of women that scream or yell with delight and go crazy when they go to a strip club featuring men or the Chippendale dancers. I'm not saying all women go nuts but numerous amounts do. Or the amount of women that read 'steamy romance' novels based on the "desirable men" they drool over on the front covers. Because that's not being visual. SURE.

It's become common place for women to "cater" to men's sexual desires/fantasies. The second that women say they wish for their sexual desires/fantasies to be fulfilled, it's become the "norm" for people to say that women wish for sex to coincide with nurturing.
If women don't follow this stereotype, they are labelled wh0res, s1uts, etc.
It's okay for women to be the "enticers" but not the ones who are "enticed".
If this were changed, men wouldn't have fun being catered to a "cat and mouse" game anymore.

I know many women that would like the tables to be turned.
How about a nice family resturant, similar to Hooters, that features men's "packages" as the selling point?

This is typical of female body being used as a economical image. I'm not a bigot, but I hate the use of woman sexuality like this. It would be the same if the tables were turned around but men are very rarely seen as sex objects in the media. Why do they put semi-naked women in the covers of magazines(not like FHM or Maxim or Esquire and porn mags.) ? Because the image makes the magazine sell. I have given up from my two cinema and one photography magazine because of this usage. Nice packages are empty most of the time.

Dont think men would care if there were semi naked men all over. I personally dont like it splashed all over. Keeping in some mags is fine FHM etc, but in newspapers it is a bit much. The thing is that these women continue striving to become glamour models so there is a business for it. If they stood up to it and had a little more respect for themselves then there wouldnt be a calling for it.

YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!

It's amazing what people CHOOSE to see or NOT SEE.

Have you ever noticed almost EVERY TV commercial which depicts a man and a woman (like a husband and wife). The wife is always the smart one -- she ALWAYS uses to good brand, not the inferior brand X. Or the woman is discussing the merits of the product with another woman, while the man is in the background, setting himself on fire, because he doesn't know how to use a BBQ, or he's getting attacked by bees (which HE disturbed), of course.

In any event, the WOMAN is ALWAYS ready with the Band-Aids or other first aid remedy, while the man could prepare a bowl of cereal for the kids.

I would GLADLY see magazine racks filled with naked and half-naked men if it meant that women were portrayed as inept, foolish, and spineless perople on TV commercials.

Hi I'm a male. You should listen to your sisters here because most of them hit the nail on the head.
First of all men will generally act on a visual cue. I proved this today when I bought the newspaper at work and my eyes wandered to the top shelf! It was to me an unconscious moment but it did happen and its not the first time and wont be the last.
Secondly, sex sells. This is a fact of life. Since this is such an obvious statement on human behaviour I'm wondering if you realise how true this statement is.
As for if the tables were turned, it wouldnt bother or offend me, but you would probably see alot of guys suddenly giving up beer and running to the gym! But again if your talking about "suggestive" pictures like mens magazines or the sunday sport they wouldnt sell. Except to gay men. Women, in general, just dont want to see these types of images. Again your sisters here are right.

The media targets men because they seem to think men buy more, which is wrong. Men only buy what they need. Men are also more visual than women. Which means they think with what they see. If they see a hot girl drinking beer they think they can get hot girl by drinking that beer. If they see hot girl on car they think hot girls will like him if he drive that car. Men are not always like caveman, but the media treats them this way. A lot of men I know even say the models on t.v. and in magazines are way too thin. Guess what men are genetically prone to be attracted to curvy women because curves are a sign of health and ability to reproduce. They don't always know that though. It is harder for a thin girl to get pregnant than a girl with a little curve.

I dont' believe it's fair to us "average" shaped girls. I spent my teenage years starving half to death and almost succeeded in death from trying to look picture perfect. Then I realized that majority of men really do want a woman with curves (somewhat. lol). I have 2 daughters both of whom are worried about their weight because they think they need to be perfect also (they are only 14 and 11) and I keep telling them that doesn't need to be the case.

But, even though the 1/2 clad ultra skinny women are in fact on all the magazine covers geared at men, I do find it's because men in truth are visual people and they wouldn't look twice at a magazine unless it had a half naked woman on it or a sports car. That's just the way men are. And that's how magazines get sold to men.

because that's what's in demand. if semi-naked men were everywhere in the media, things wouldn't sell nearly as much as they do now. men are attracted to it and women aspire to be it. it doesn't work as well the other way round. it's been tried. there just isn't demand from women for a magazine like fhm. clutterbug84 said herself that she wouldn't want to see men in these types of magazines. but men DO like to see women like that, you have to try and look at it objectively, bitches. men make 50% of the world. why do YOU find a woman's body so offensive?

if an adult woman wants to pose in a lad mag with a bikini on, what's wrong with that? are you jealous? she probably gets paid more than you get in year in a few months

and btw, if the daily sport and lad mags were put on the top shelf, where would the real top shelf stuff go? under the counter? :{
