Q1: I think that your cpu fan has broken because a thermal event. Thermal means warmth. You may have to replace the power box as well. But it is something to do with your fans internally.
Q2: Your networking port may be old, so it cant support the modem. May be it only goes up to 10mbps

Your PC is over heating. Either shut it down when you are not using it or purchase heatsinks and fan coolers for all your active components - graphics card, cpu, psu, ram memory. Also improve the airflow round your PC, give it some space for hot air to escape. If it is a laptop, buy a desk top, under laptop, cooling tray. I don't know what you have networked but if it is telling you the network cable is unplugged, I would guess that the networked device isn't 100Mbps, or doesn't have a 100Mbps card fitted.

You are overheating, man!!! Clean your system, free it from dust, buy extra fans if you need to and make sure the ones you have now are working.
For your second problem, something must be wrong with the card, or the cable. A 100mbps probably won't connect to a PC with a 10mbps LAN card. Try the 10/100mbps. It suits both.

I can proberly answer the first question!!!!! but as 4 question 2?? i am assuming u r refering 2 a modem??? Q1:: The thermal event is possibly due 2 the computer reching the safty shut down lvl!! This can b alterd from your bios system!! mines set at 70f. When the computer reaches this temp it hangs\shut'sdown 2 prevent damage 2 the cpu/HD etc etc! i suspect your power pack fan is stopping!!!!
Also it might help 2 keep lounge\bedromm window open at all times 2 ensure cooler air supply i leave my bedroom window open 24/7 365 days a year!!!

You are overheating...get in there and clean the dust out and make sure all the fans are spinning. You can download SpeedFan to check out your temps.
