Theres to many to list.
The first that comes to mind is the hijacking of our culture by immigrants. Im tired of seeing foreign flags fly on our soil, tired of going to Walmart and needing an interpreter. Tired of having to push #1 to get automated responses in English, Im in America for Gods sake.

I may have read this question wrong, but I am referring to CAUSES of the loss of American culture:
1. television
2. reduction of music, art, and theater in public schools
3. the interstate highway system, which helped make every city and town exactly the same
4. McDonald's, Wal Mart, and similar big corporations
5. Computers :)

Look at the best sellers list. Look at television. Listen to AM radio. You probably even think we are civilized, watch the news and you can see that's a joke. Watch the political hacks on cable television who constantly dumb down the American public. Shut off the television and go to a library. American culture=oxymoron. Sorry, this country's mantra is "Be greedy, the hell with your fellow man and who cares about the planet." "USA" "USA" USA" excuse me, which way to the Colosseum?

The question itself, I think, alludes to the idea of NEGATIVE losses, i.e. "Such and such trait made America great but now that trait has left our cultural climate." I sincerely don't want to be offensive, but sometimes I'm a bit put off a bit by blanket questions/statements about "American society"
................."America" contains about 30 different sub-societies..........and people like to pontificate ad nauseum (much like how I'm doing) about what's "gone wrong" in American culture.......I personally believe there are a'lot of things that are right with America.........one of the best judicial systems in the world, cutting edge medical science, etc. Lots of people love to wax poetic about "the good old days" (i.e. the 50's and early 60's).........let me tell you a few things about the good old days: they weren't always good! But, I digress..............
I personally believe that America has lost the art of neighboring. I personally believe that "community" has been diluted. People don't "need" one another today they way they did 50 years ago and I think that's helps add to loneliness and isolation. That's my two cents.

It seems like baseball has been replaced with football. Hot dogs have been replaced by beer. Innocence has been replaced by liberalism. Freedom has been replaced by crime. Holidays have been replaced by commercialism. Government has been replaced by politics.
I believe America has sold out to capitalism... everything in life seems to be about financial gain.
