Hi.
Yes, you would need the CD if you want to install Windows on your machine. Simple and easy;
Steps.
--------------
1. Restart / Switch On your computer
2. Get into BIOS Setup
The BIOS can normally be accessed when you start your computer [i.e. when you see white text behind a black background just like DOS]. You may see a reference to "setup" when you turn your computer on. That's your opportunity to get into the BIOS. It usually requires the push of a function key, such as F10, to get access to it. That "F" key varies between computers. Sometimes it's the ESC key or DEL key.
Once in BIOS, you need to setup the boot up sequence. Normally computers are configured to boot from a "floppy disk" first then the "hard drive". You need to change the sequence to "cd-rom drive" or select the appropriate label of the drive.
Once done, insert the disk and restart your computer and it should read the cd rom drive, and display you the windows setup screen.
Note that, after running the setup, you need to change the BIOS boot sequence back to how it was. Floppy first and Hard Disk next.
Good Luck and gimme a shout if u need more help - i_mamdani@hotmail.com - MSN Messenger.
Peace.

Go to your BIOS. To get there, if your system is an OEM, press F2 while your computer is starting. If your system is custom built, press DEL key while your computer is starting. When you get to the BIOS, make sure the first bootable device is set on your CD. Then if your copy of Windows is XP, follow these instructions.
1. Start your computer from the Windows XP CD-ROM. To do this, insert the Windows XP CD-ROM into your CD drive or DVD drive, and then restart your computer.
2. When you see the "Press any key to boot from CD" message, press any key to start the computer from the Windows XP CD-ROM.
3. At the Welcome to Setup screen, press ENTER to start Windows XP Setup.
4. Read the End-User License Agreement, and then press F8.
5. Follow the instructions on the screen to select and format a partition where you want to install Windows XP.
6. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete Windows XP Setup.

Insert the CD and boot to it (you might need to set it up in BIOS). It will automatically start the install program.
