We would like to know about a mentor program we have seen on TV that utilizes retired business people as the mentors. We do not remember the name of the program, but really would appreciate some business insight from someone that has grown a small business, and would consider giving us the benefit of their knowledge and experiance. Neither of our families have this kind of experiance, and we are at the point where it could make a lot of difference in the future of our small business... Please realize, we have ran our business for 4 years, but still are quite uneducated in a lot of respects regarding business operation, so an amount of patience will be required on your part ! Thank you, hope to hear from some patient, knowledgable person soon !!!!!

Great you are doing business. In UK there's a young enterprise scheme where you are assigned a mentor who has significant business experience.

Mentors don't necessarily need to be old. Some young and middle aged entrepreneurs are willing to devote some of their time for the good of general public and they are willing to offer their expertise for free.

Also if you are in a university town, go to the university's business school and head hunt some top MBA students and use them as your intern while they are studying. The best part is, they might use your business as their case study for their studies and you get free or very cheap expertise.

In the mean time if you need help you can e-mail me at marcusthuta@yahoo.com.

Someone said that 90% of business fail within 3 years. You have carried on for 4 years and have survived the initial cruical stage. Congrats. Next stage would be to consolidate and grow.
