Could be a mite allergy from his dry food.
vet has a cream that helps...
throw away old dry food and get fresh stuff.

hamsters are not suppose to be kept in cedar shavings. That can cause them to lose their hair and cause skin problems. Have you changed his shavings recently. If not, you may want to take him to a pet store or vet. Sometimes, the places like Pet Smart can help without paying for a vet.

The hair is not just a part of your body and it is a symbol of beauty, status and health. It is important for you to take proper care of your health in order to prevent early hair loss. Learn here https://bitly.im/aOlK0 It is not a very serious problem and with a little bit of caution you will be able to prevent further hair loss. There are certain uncontrollable factors like pregnancy conditions or certain illness or genetic factors that will result in hair loss. But, this does not mean that you cannot do something about your hair loss.

he is very old. u r lucky to have him so long. they live 2-3 yrs. so start preparing. it could be a vitamin deficiency. buy him liquid hamster vitamins from the petstore or grocer & put in his water as directed. give him his fave treats & keep his area quiet & stress free. no cedar or pine bedding---replace with aspen or carefresh if u r using one of them. check for black specs on his skin---mites---is he scratching? call the local vets & ask if they can recommend or refer u to a small animal vet.

Hamster like any animal can get skin condidtions that couse it to loose fur. It could be ringworm or even a bacterial infection. I would take him to a vet. They can treat hampsters. At least call and they them whats going on. They will tell you what steps to take next.

If you have him in ceder bedding change that immediatly. Pine and aspen work geat. He could have a form of lice or ring worm or just an alergic reaction. I would have to know more details about his condition to help. Give him some yogurt, if he is stressed he's suseptable to wet tail and yogurt will help him to not get wet tail(diarrea- sometimes fatal).

wow your hamster should of died a year and a half ago!
it is probably just getting old and stuff so i wouldnt be alarmed if it were to be dead soon.

not to be mean or anything but i would gladly give you one of my 20 baby hamsters once they are a little older, well if you live in michigan that is.

the hamster may have cancer, hamsters lose their hair and start growing dark patches on their backs!

im sorry< chelsea

He's very old.

I would recommend traveling to the vets, or calling them and seeing what they have to say about him.
