A free program called Advanced Window Care wouldn't hurt to check out if you have any problems. Best of luck.

start>run>type MSCONFIG>click on the startup tab>deselect everything>click APPLY>it will ask you restart>click OK>when Windows loads it will pop up a screen that tells you that you are running diagnostic mode>chack the box that says dont tell me this again>process complete. This will free up all of your resources and consquently make your system run smoother and faster. Hope this helps you.

You might need more RAM. Open Task Manager (CTRL+Shift+Esc) and look under the Performance tab. Check your available physical memory (RAM) and if it is below say 50000, you will need to buy more. Also check your hard drive space.

Use msconfig (Start > Run) to disable unecessary startup items. Use services.msc (Start > Run) to disable unecessary services.

Remember this is not noob friendly, only do it if you know what you're doing.
