I would give practically all of it away.
there are lots of Charity's that could benefit also schools, there would be so many ways to help others that it would be a full time job just giving it all away, besides like you said you cant take it with you.

One hundred billion dollars would make you the richest person in the world. There is a LOT of responsibility with that kind of money. I mean, you could *LITERALLY* buy a small country with that kind of change!

I think I would have to ask myself if I was the most responsible person to have that kind of money. Could I use it for the betterment of mankind more efficiently than say, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation? If the honest answer was no, then I would likely donate it, in smaller chunks to those that could best use it to fight poverty, health crises, and a whole host of domestic issues that have yet to be addressed (education, infrastructure, etc).

How much could I personally use? When you figure that $100M will net you $5-10M of new money a year, just from the interest on it, I think that is more than I need by far. I'd probably keep something in the range of $10-50M (and thus net about 1-5M a year in interest) to provide for a more than comfortable lifestyle.

The rest would go.

With one billion dollars I could help homeless women and children that are in the United States. It would be a huge step in our own problems here. Or give the majority to Saint Jude's hospital. It really tears me up to see children suffer.

I would build a community centre, and show that people can live together without being total selfish bastards! Seriously, if everyone had some common connection, they would be less inclined to be so nasty.

I would give most of it away to those who need it - poor people who do not have the basic necessities. I would also give a few million to the relatives.

I would give most of it to charities, some of it to family members, and party for the rest of my life with the rest.
