Baseball because it's a mind game. There's no clock to limit the process. Every pitch, every play is a game within a game. It's the perfect sport.

My favorite sport is softball. I've played in 120 games so far this year and love it! Last year was my last year of baseball, so it's not as fun to watch anymore, either. Football is great, but I doubt I can still play that competetively (although I'm going to try out for a semi-pro team in the next couple years before I officially give it up - just have to get back in shape for it). Never got into soccer, cricket, golf or what-have-you. I have been playing basketball on city rec teams the past few years and still like that. Volleyball is ok, too. If you consider bowling a sport, I've bowled in leagues several different years. I don't have much of a life outside of work and sports.

Baseball is my favorite sport with football a close second.
One of the reasons I love baseball is because of the man-to-man battle between the pitcher and hitter. This is actually the reason the Japanese took to baseball so long ago, it reminded them of the battle between two samurai.
I also love baseball because there is so much strategy invloved, more so in the NL where they have kept the game pure without the DH. Do't get me wrong, Big Pappi can knock the cover off a ball, but he probably couldn't field a slow rolling beach ball. Deciding on whether or not to pinch hit for a pitcher in the 5th inning with the bases loaded and down by 3 is something AL managers don't face.
I also love the role of balance in baseball. When a potential base stealer is on first, how big of a lead should he take? A bigger lead might get you to second a little quicker, but watch out for that pickoff throw. Another example is throwing the ball. How much power do you use in a throw without giving up too much accuracy? When Derek Jeter backhands a ball in the hole, his brain has to make numerous calculations on how hard to throw the ball without making a bad throw considering the baserunner's speed and the game situation. This same "power/accuracy" balance plays a major role in pitching.
Another plus with baseball is that youdon't have to be a physical specimen to play. Take Rafael Furcal, David Eckstein, and Caesar Izturis for example. They are all well under 6 feet, but they make up for their lack of power with their speed and defense. Of course the NFL has it's smaller guys, but they aren't as common as in MLB.
Here are some other things I love:
Turning 2, sacrifice bunts, tagging up, high cheese, hit-and-run, 1-0 pitcher's duels, closers, base stealing, 5-tool players, home plate collisions, little league, web gems, robbing homers, walk-off homers, inside-the-park homers, triples, fantasy baseball, outfield cannons, Ichiro, Jeter, Maddux, Pujols, Johan, Beltran, Biggio, Joe Morgan, Clemente, Willie Mays, Charlie Hustle, Gehrig, Dimaggio, and the '88 Dodgers.

Gotta be baseball. There is no way to run out the clock, or otherwise take time away from playing. You have to get outs. No such thing as the pitcher kneeling on the ball with bases loaded in the ninth with no one out and a 3-0 count. Football sucks.

Mine too is baseball because I played it as a kid and young adult. I love my memories of the games: the smell of the grass and the dirt, the taste of the orange drink between innings, my friends all getting together to play.

Baseball- it en campuses all of life's effects, desire, love, hatred, anger, sympathy, longing and many other feelings. Just ask players and fans what they want from their favorite team. Red sox's fans spew hatred for the evil empire (Yankees) Yankee fans enjoy the dread and longings of red sox fans who desire another world series title. Cubs fans cant understand why the whit sox won a world series seeing as they still don't understand why they even have another major league team in the same town. some fans live and die with their team the loyalty goes from one generation to the next box seats are handed down in wills and memories are carried on forever. Who cant love baseball?

Baseball, Because my dad tought me to throw when I was five, he died a year later but my mother always found time to help me and always get me to practice, with the help of grandma. I have been playing since I was 6 yrs. old, that was many years ago but I loved the game and still do.

Baseball. It is exciting. It is always interesting. It also has a rich tradition and history. It really has grown with American culture and history over the last 100 years.
