Adding items other than plants to one's garden is simply a matter of personal choice. You garden for yourself, not for others. If you like it, do it. I personally think all of the above items mentioned are fun and funky and add a quaint charm to a garden, if done tastefully and in moderation. I like to garden with old/junk/antique items as containers. I, myself, own four pink flamingos. Funny story on how that happened: I used to detest the pink plastic flamingos in the garden. I attended the Northwest Flower and Garden Show in Seattle one year and one of their display gardens featured old original pink flamingos tucked in here and there. It looked so cool! I got on eBay and bought four. I told this story to the seller and he said he used to dislike them, too, but they are making a comeback and he decided he wanted a few. On his 50th birthday, his friends gave him 50! So he was selling 46 of them! I tuck mine in between some ferns and they look like they belong. The grandkids can hardly wait each spring to bring them out. To answer your question, these items all "belong" in your garden if you want them to.

What do you like? I would choose garden gnomes over flamingos because people make jokes about flamingos.(Don't know why) Personally, I would not choose either but go for something like a turtle, or a cherub. I have a beautiful statue of St. Francis that fits perfectly for me. Too much in a yard makes it look cluttered. Some are now using the globe balls which are attractive. Concentrate on what types of plants you have and how many and the answer will come to you

I think they belong hidden.. not in anyones yard! I do believe some statues and other garden ornamentation looks nice, but definitely not gnomes or flamingos!

Gnomes are amusing, but I wouldn't want one (well, maybe the Travelocity Gnome, tucked away in a hidden corner?...just kidding!). I'm another one who doesn't like clutter. I like a simple statue or fountain.
Choose whatever YOU like, no matter what others have. I think a garden should reflect the personality of the gardener.

It all depends on what you like in your garden. It's a way of personalizing your gardens and adding a bit of fun. Some people even make their own garden art (myself included). When it comes right down to it...it's YOUR garden/yard and you can basically do whatever you like. I don't think there is any hard n fast rule which states what belongs....all a matter of personal taste.

Your lawn should be a relextion of your personality. But only plants belong in the yard and garden. Pu tflower and bushes that fi tyou. DO NOT put little plastic ornament in there to look cute.(it doesn't).
Frankly it is wierd. A good tip is if it can't grow, don't put it in your garden.

A garden should reflect your taste and personalities. The only statues I have are some faeries with a green patina, that kinda peek out from the flowers, IMHO very tasteful. I've lined my pathways with mosaic bricks that I made myself, each step is different, koi, gecko's,flowers, snails, turtles

I live in a trailer park and on either side of my front door, I have a
pink flamingo. People must like them a lot because once or
twice a month, they disappear and I have to buy new ones.

You should put what you have an interest in I have pigs in my garden because that is what I like. I collect them so I have them inside my house and outside in the garden. It is all in what you like.

I like the flamingos because they are so ridiculous. I even have one in a potted plant.
