It will be a teen party from late afternoon continuing into the night..about 4 or 5 hours long. There will be a pool, music and dancing as well as a buffet table with orderves. By the way, it is a 13th birthday party. There will be a spot where people can get their picture taken, and they will be given a print of it at the end of the party. There is no real theme except for the colors lime, magenta, and orange. Also, since it a 13th birthday party, the number 13 can be incorporated but doesn't have to. I was looking for ideas of something that people could take a picture in front of. If you have design ideas for the backdrop, please share them!

P.S.
A backdrop is a very large piece of wood (8x4ft?) covered in paper and decorated with paper, glitter, ribbon, ANYTHING AT ALL!!! It could even be decorated in candy!

It's a girl's birthday

Please give ideas, whether it is a full design idea or just a small material that we could use to decorate, your input is appreciated

You could make silver stars out of construction paper/card stock and aluminum foil. They show up really well with flashes.

Also Joann or Michael's would have a great selection of cheap fabric. You could get draping backdrop material

You could go with a theme of "13". Make 13 of everything. 13 stars. 13 pieces of candy. 13 candles. 13 strings. Number 13 made out of the card stock/construction paper with aluminum...

Hello, What type of things is she into. I think that if you use lime as the background and buy some glitter sprinkle the glitter onto the lime base while it is still wet cut the orange and magenta into small strips and glue them where ever you think you'd like it to show up in a picture. you can accent the sides of the backdrop with pilons or trees their are rental places that rent stuff like that. Or buy ribbon in other colors that blend with the colors at hand and drape them on the sides as a cover up. Ask your daughter what she thinks that might look good. If she doesn't known whats going on, tell her that it's for a friend that you need help.

Why don't you put up different colors construction paper - buy waterproof color markers and let the guests decorate your background - maybe make it a contest to see which group/person can make the best drawing for the party - that way you don't have to do anything special for the backdrop - and the 13 year old could keep each color square as a memoir of the party!!@

You could do a Hawaiian theme. Give out leis to the party guests and make pina coladas and things like that. The backdrop for the picture could be a cartoon guy & girl and have the guests stick there heads through the hole where the heads should be for the cartoons.

Take a strand of WHITE LIGHTS and staple them to the wood. Then take a peice of black cloth and cover the lights, cutting out holes for the lights to come through. You can piant a moon on the cloth or use a round "Push light". You can also paint a palm tree on it as well. It will make a starry night backdrop. And it doesn't drown the people out in the picture either. Too many colors will take your focus away!

Since there's a pool and the colors are awesome, a beach/ Hawaiian backdrop would be awesome. If you go to http://www.pbteen.com, there are these wall murals they sell, and one is the ocean with a little tiki hut and some surfboards, and it's really cool. You could print out the picture and then paint it like that, and I think that'd look sweet. Good luck!
