Well, my grandmother, who I was quite close to, passed away about 3 months ago. I want my daughter's middle name to be reminicent of her name, which was Alta, but just don't like the name too much. I found a name that has Alta in it, and is also American Indian (which I am). It is Zaltana. The problem is, my husband doesn't like it. Any suggestions?

Okay, her first name is going to be Grace. That's already decided. What we can't decide on is her middle name. Just for the people who didn't understand the first time...

Um, my grandmother had the middle name of Maurece, which is just not an option. And my middle name is Marie, so... yeah...

I think Grace Alta is cute.

When I went to the parenting.com baby namer and type in Alta this also popped up:
Altagracia - reference to the "high grace" of Mary, the mother of Jesus, The girl's name Altagracia is of Spanish origin. An elaboration of "grace" created from the names Alta and Gracia. Also commemorates the feast of "Our Lady of Altagracia."

Some names related to Alta are:
Alda, Aleta, Aletha, Alida, Altha, Althea, Awilda

Other ones found on the internet elsewhere are:
Altair - arabic/greek - bird, star
Alta - latin - tall and lofty - pronounced ALL-tah
Altagrace

I hope this helps.

How about 2 middle names your family is close and now gone and since you were close you want her to know that she was named after her Great Grandmother. Plus Alta is unique and you don't hear it often and that's the new way to name baby's something different

How about giving her two middle names or two first names? I like Grace Isabella Alta or Grace Alta Josephine. Anyway, good luck. Finding names can be tough sometimes but congrats on the new little one :-)

Im pregnant right now and we're thinking about naming our daughter Grace also her middle name will be Carolyn it was my aunt's middle name who died from a fatal massive heartattack a few years ago. We also have thought about Summer Fawn for her name "Fawn is my middle name" why don't you use her middle name if you don't like her first name that's what were going to do or take all the letters from both her first and middle name and look for names within them that you like.

You have to sit down and discuss with him, I am having a problem name my little girl. My finance wants to name her Kendra Latrice, but I don't. What you should is sit down and go through a baby book that has a lot of baby names in it and write a list of the names you guys like and then decide on one. If possible use Grace as her middle name.
