Help ! Help me find a certain series of comics featuring a very smart cat !?

I used to read a series of comics featuring a very wise woman
and a very funky cat. The comics involved a lot of WRITING.
The Los Angeles Times yanked it about two years ago
because it was too sophisticated.
(They prefer silly cats).
Help me find those comics.
