Get your own phone number(s) on the Do Not Call registry. It might take a month or two to kick in and you have to renew it periodically (and some groups are exempt from not calling), but it made a noticable difference in my house.
Other than that, if you get an unwanted call (at least if isn't pre-recorded), you can always politely ask that your number be removed from their list of people to call.

if your on a cell phone ... get into your block call section and you should be able to block calls by just area codes (800 being the area code ... but don't forget about 866, 877, 888, etc etc). once you do this though, any and all calls that start with that area code will be told that you are unavailable, and some calling cards use an 800 type number as an ID so if you have a friend or someone using a calling card they will not be able to get a hold of you. For more information, take a look at your manual for the phone ... if you are on a landline ... its almost next to impossible and costs extra money as you have to go through your phone company to accomplish this. Good luck --- Wally

I don't know, but I can't wait to find out the answer lol just applied for a credit card, and they've been calling about 10 times a day for my fiancee as a "courtesy" call. (he's out of town 5 days a week) and to top it off, the lady hardly speaks English. Way to go Washington Mutual..........
Assuming they're solicitors, you can try putting your number on that FTC (I think) block call list, also add your cell phone. Also, you can try through your phone co. getting an unpublished number, helps a little, but when you sign up for stuff online, they spread your info.

Go to the Website below and register all your phone numbersand your cell phone with the National Do Not Call list. If they call you after a month has passed, threaten them with reporting their calls. Each unauthorized call can cost them $2000.
