i am going to open a checking account later, and i need some advice. not about the checking account, but with my fiance. what the story is, is that after i get off work, i am going to my bank to open the account with money from a previous account. i would also like to put in money that my fiance is holding onto for me. the problem is, when i asked her about the money last night, she outright refused to give me the money, because i would apparently blow it all at once. what hurt the most, is that she even said that she has no faith in me, to keep the money in the account. i don't know what to do now.

Ok, first of all, do you have a history of blowing your wad irresponsibly of is she just making that up. You guys have to get the finances straight and now. This was my worst problem in the first 5 years of marriage, and we lived rent free. You have to decide who is going to pay the bills, what money is dispensable, and what you are saving for. If you decide togather that she will pay the bills, you can set up a seperate account for that purpose and both autodeposit into that account.

If, on the other hand, she just wants control and full access to all your money, that would be a bad sign.

Sounds to me like you should be rethinking the whole fiance thing.

If it is that important to you then you should tell her that you'll sue her to get it back and follow through on that, if necessary.

If it's not important to you then you should just forget about ever having your own accounts because once she's your wife, she'll just take all the money anyway.

well, if it is your money she can't do anything about it! If your bad with money than just accept it and try to change after all she is your fiance and soon to be wife so maybe she's trying to assist you in changing your ways. Lastly, pull your self together and realize your only opening an account to spite her and spend the money!!!!!!!!!1

She is obviously very manipulative and in control of the situation. It's not a good sign that she has no faith in you. Why is she marrying you then? She has issues.

Maybe you could have her go with you. If she doesn't trust you, then you should think twice about marrying her. There has to be trust in a relationship.

It is YOUR money, demand it back. She has no right to keep it from you.
